We are all human. We all have a place we like to be. A place we want others to know we are confident. We all want to feel as if we are being noticed. We all want to feel like we are not the problem.

In this article I wanted to take a deeper look at one of those areas that seems to be lacking, to make a list of all the things in my life that give me this feeling. Here they all are. It’s a feeling I have that the feeling is there. It’s the place I like to be. It’s where I want others to think I am. It’s where I live when I’m not there. This is very different than thinking where life is or where I like to be and it’s the difference between being where I’m supposed to be and where I’ve been. The one thing that ties all three places together is consistency. It’s what keeps the feeling coming back into place after a period of time. I often hear people say that it’s a new place to live. That they moved to something new like a new job, a new apartment, a new jump rope mat, or something. It’s been that way for years. There have been a lot of places in my life that have been new.
New places have been places where I felt safe. Places with little to no security and no where I could feel good about being. But there’s a difference between feeling safe and feeling secure. Safe, is knowing things are out there, and knowing things will happen. It’s more like a place that tells you it’s okay. Secure, is knowing things are going to happen tomorrow. It’s like that feeling that this is how it is all going to work out, and this is the end of it. But we always live another day.
